How can a Retreat-Style EMDR Intensive Help You?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a form of psychotherapy that has been shown to be effective in treating trauma and other mental health conditions. EMDR therapy involves recalling traumatic or distressing experiences while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, to help process and reduce the intensity of those experiences.

One way to participate in EMDR therapy is through a retreat-style intensive, where you can attend a weekend-long program that provides an immersive and focused environment for EMDR therapy sessions. Instead of weekly therapy sessions, you can spend one weekend focusing on what may be painful memories. However, the expedited nature of the retreat-style EMDR intensive creates a contained space and amount of time for processing and releasing traumatic memories.

The setting for the EMDR intensives can either be online (virtual) or at either of my offices in Lakewood or Boulder. If you live in another state, you can fly in for the weekend to participate in the retreat.

Each retreat is tailored to each person’s individual needs/preferences. They will include time in the therapy office and also recommendations on where to go hiking, sightseeing or to see other healers (massage, acupuncture, naturopathic medicine etc.) for further healing, rest and rejuvenation.
