What to Expect/FAQ

How does it work?

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs. I primarily specialize in treating anxiety and post-traumatic stress/trauma.

How long will it take?

Each person is different in terms of how long they will need to attend therapy. Some folks need a few sessions and others may need therapy for a year or longer. It really depends on a lot of factors.

After a few sessions, we may be able to gauge the length of time/commitment that will be necessary to find healing. Though we will start with weekly sessions for at least a few months, we may find that the frequency can be reduced to biweekly or even monthly sessions.

It may be possible for you to expedite your therapy process through an EMDR Intensive and avoid spending months/years in therapy. Research is showing that intensives can be a powerful and healing experience and may facilitate a quicker healing process than regular weekly therapy.

How do I meet with you?

If you prefer in-person sessions, I work in Lakewood (Colorado) Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays. I no longer have in person sessions available in Boulder.

If you prefer virtual support, online therapy (telehealth) is a great and convenient option.  This is available to residents of AZ, CA, CO and FL.

Telehealth allows me to provide counseling and therapy via live video conferencing. This can be done anywhere you have an internet connection, computer or smartphone.

I am unable to see clients who reside outside of those four states.

What are your hours/availability?

I hold office hours Mondays (9-2), Tuesdays (9-2), Wednesdays (9-2) for individual/hourly therapy. Please inquire with me directly about specific appointment requests.

I offer EMDR intensives over long weekends (many scheduling options from Thursdays-Sundays).

How often do we meet?

I meet with clients on a weekly, biweekly and monthly basis. I strongly encourage any new clients who are wanting to accelerate their therapy experience to consider doing an EMDR Intensive.

How do I get started?

You may contact me through this website, via email or call to set up services. We will set up an initial (free) 20-minute consultation to ensure that we are a good fit.
